What Moves The Lexus RZ?

The Lexus RZ is a front- or all-wheel drive vehicle, powered by one or two electric motors. As the RZ 300e, it features a 201 horsepower, 196.4 lb-ft of torque, electric motor driving the front axle. On the AWD RZ 450e, that's one on each axle. The result is what Lexus calls Direct4. In tandem, these two motors deliver 308 horsepower with 196.4 lb-ft of torque at the front and 124 lb-ft at the rear for 320 lb-ft in total. That's quite punchy and offers plenty of grip from the four-wheel drive system especially in inclement weather.

The power on the RZ 450e is sent in varying degrees between the front and rear axles. These vary according to wheel slip and road conditions. While most of the work is done at the front wheels, the rear can grab up to 80 percent of the difference for maximum grip rounding a turn.

The EPA estimates you'll get up to 220 miles* on a single charge. That, of course, depends on how your Lexus RZ is equipped, how fast you drive and more. As they say in the real world, your mileage may vary.

The Lexus RZ is available in two models with two trim levels. The first is the RZ 300e Premium and RZ 300e Luxury. The all-wheel drive RZ 450e is available in Premium AWD and Luxury AWD trims. 
  • The Lexus RZ 300e FWD and 450e Premium AWD: Includes key features like the panorama glass roof, Direct4 All-wheel drive system, and 14-inch touchscreen display. Add NuLuxe interior trim, power tilt and telescoping steering column, and the Lexus 10-speaker Premium Audio system to round out the package.
  • The Lexus RZ 300e FWD and 450e Luxury AWD: Includes 20-inch split-10 spoke black and machined finish alloy wheels, multicolor ambient lighting with shadow illumination, and a Mark Levinson 13-speaker, 12-channel 1,800-watt premium surround sound audio system.

Both are available with an optional Technology Package, adding the Lexus Advanced Park system, 10-inch Head-Up Display and Digital Key (with Remote Connect, by subscription).

An optional Cold Weather Package adds Headlamp Washers and Windshield wiper de-icer.

How Does The Lexus RZ Look?

We're talking a two-box design here, but the reality is the RZ slots right between the compact Lexus NX and the midsize Lexus RX. There's no radiator to speak of but the front end still carries out the Lexus spindle grille concept, just without the openings.
