The latest Lexus GX carries a 3.4-liter twin turbocharged V6 engine that delivers 349 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. That means 48 more ponies than the previous outdated V8 GX model. This engine mates to a high-tech 10-speed automatic transmission. In addition to the added power, there's an increase in towing ability, up to 9,096 pounds making this one of the most capable SUVs on the market.Â
Four-wheel drive is standard on all Lexus GX trim levels. Some models include 18-inch wheels and 33-inch all-terrain tires. The new Lexus GX 550 has come a long way since the first-generation introduction in 2002. Today, it features a noticeable change from the previous generation with a squared-off body. We believe this is the most rugged, off-road appearing, attractive GX to date.
